Make a list of all the things you will need on race day

Make a list of all the things that you are going to need on race day, and don’t leave it to the last minute.

When you’re at the start line or in transition, let people know it’s your first race.

Triathletes are really, really helpful and friendly, and they will try and put you at your ease.

The more you are at ease, the more you’ll enjoy the experience of your first triathlon.

Have some warm clothes that you can pop on after the finish line when you get back into transition because, I personally do get really cold after a triathlon

Pop in something old, it doesn’t matter if you get all sweaty and and horrible because you can chuck it in the washer afterwards, but at least you are warm because it is really important that you keep warm when you’ve done a triathlon.

All shapes and sizes do a triathlon, so you will not feel outta place if you’re a larger person or a thin person or a round person.

Whatever your body shape, there will be someone there in the triathlon just like you.

So don’t feel intimidated.

Everyone there is out to have a good time.

Have a snack to eat straight after you finish, because I’ve certainly feel quite hungry and it’s nice to have something. I particularly like my Mars Bars to be honest but anything that makes you feel good have at the end of the race because you will need it.

You’ve expended a lot of energy and you need to get that back in your system as soon as you possibly can.
