On our triathlon holidays in Portugal, we don’t have the coals or the climbs that Spain and the Balearic Islands or even the Canaries really have.
However, there are two UCI cycling races that take place in Portugal as the Volta a Portugal and the Volta a Algarve.
All of them feature hills and climbs, short punchy climbs, all in the Algarve, including the famous Monchique climb.
The Monchique climb, which is probably the most famous in the area is something that will definitely tax you.
People like Remco Evenepoel have raced up to the top of that and won their race in sprint finishes.
It’s definitely an iconic climb.
We also have a really experienced guide who will be able to take you on a ride out into the foothills and into the hills so that you can get the most from your ability and are not going to be too stretched.
